Using the auto-renew setting
Understanding how the recurring subscription toggle works in Vexly
What is Auto-Renew?
The auto-renew setting (also called "recurring") controls how Vexly handles your subscription after the billing date passes. This is purely for tracking purposes within Vexly and doesn't affect your actual subscription with the service provider.
Auto-Renew ON (Recurring Subscription)
When auto-renew is enabled:
- The next billing date automatically rolls forward based on your billing cycle
- Your subscription continues to appear in your active subscriptions list
- Monthly cost calculations continue to include this subscription
- Perfect for ongoing subscriptions like Netflix, Spotify, or Adobe Creative Cloud
Example: If your Netflix subscription is due on January 15th with monthly billing, Vexly will automatically update it to February 15th after the date passes.
Auto-Renew OFF (One-Time Payment)
When auto-renew is disabled:
- The subscription is treated as expired/cancelled when the billing date passes
- It moves to your expired subscriptions section for review
- No automatic date updates occur
- Ideal for trials, promotional periods, or subscriptions you plan to cancel
Important Note
This setting only affects tracking in Vexly. It doesn't cancel or modify your actual subscription with the service provider. You'll still need to manually cancel subscriptions through the service's website or app.
